Runner Notes
The tightly packed turns and mild tech on Sidewinder are great if you're looking for an easy grade to to and from the summit.
Description
At the top, Sidewinder begins off of the
North Viewpoint Trail and follows a series of tightly packed switchbacks that mosey their way down to the unmarked intersection with
Bonnie and Clyde's. From there, the trail wraps around the mountain to fade into the
Service Road at the intersection with
Drop Down.
The many switchbacks on Sidewinder make for easy going in either direction, but at times it can make progress feel slow. This has led to widespread "corner cutting" and resulting damage and erosion.
Don't cut corners! If you're anxious to get somewhere more quickly, check out the nearby
Ginny's Trail or
Drop Down for more direct options.
