From Campamento Italiano, climb up the Frances Valley through thick forests. The glacier-fed Frances River roars below you on your left. A mile from the start, a small rise takes you to Frances lookout, an opening with amazing views of Nordenskjold Lake behind you and the mountains and glaciers of the Paine Massif all around.

Continue and descend into the forest. The trees break occasionally as you cross rocky alluvial fans. The trail ends with a climb to the Britanico lookout, where you enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
