Runner Notes

As a runner, I would add that there are many dips on this trail that must be a lot of fun on a bike but that are quite challenging on a run.

Description

This quick loop is one of the newer trails in the Greensboro Watershed Trails system. It is not as clearly marked with blazes as most of our other trails, but it is easily discernible. The trailhead is clearly marked with two gate posts across the street from a parking lot on Yanceyville Road. The trail follows the shoreline for part of its route but is slightly more inland than other nearby trails.

The loop begins approximately 0.25-0.3 miles from the trailhead. Just before the loop splits, there is what looks like a wider, abandoned trail that heads to the water on the right. Stay on the singletrack to the left, and you'll soon come upon the split where the trail loops back. Your choice of going left or right at the split will depend on whether you want to be closer to the water at the beginning or the end of the loop.
