This trail follows the southwest shore of San Pablo Reservoir, providing access to water recreation facilities and other trails. The trail is mostly unpaved road, but with paved sections. South of the junction with
Inspiration Trail, this trail is dirt singletrack.
From this trail's south end, at
Orinda Connector, the trail travels between San Pablo Dam Road on the left and the reservoir on the right. It passes EBMUD watershed headquarters (no visitor services) and continues past the foot of
Inspiration Trail to a marina (picnic tables and restrooms; no public boating).
This trail continues along a dirt road (Old San Pablo Dam Road) past the foot of Eagles Nest Trail (Bay Area
Ridge Trail) and into San Pablo Recreation Area. See San Pablo Reservoir's
website for information about visitor services here, including boat launch, boat rental, fishing, and picnicking. No swimming. Dogs are permitted, on leash, in the west side parking lots, picnic areas, and paved roads, but not on the trail, in boats, or in the water.
This trail continues past San Pablo Dam to a gate at the border of Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area, where it meets Kennedy Grove
Connector leading to additional trails including the Bay Area
Ridge Trail.
