Runner Notes
The full loop is around 2.5 miles and there is a central yellow star trail that is one mile that connects Madison Park and Selwyn Park neighborhoods.
Be aware of the mountain bike route directional arrows as the trails are in active use by mountain bike riders.
Dogs are welcomed and plenty of areas for dogs to swim in the creek areas.
Description
Most mountain bikers enter the trail loop at Park E on Tyvola near the Senior Citizen Center.
Once you enter the trails, follow the directional arrows for the full loop around the park. For a simple one-mile route, you can enter the trails via the neighborhoods of Madison Park at Keystone Court and Selwyn Park via Buckingham Drive. The trail between the two neighborhoods is about a mile in length and marked with a yellow star.
It is hard to believe that you are only about five miles from the city cent of Charlotte, NC when you are on this trail given the dense and mature forest you are able to explore, and it will connect to the larger Cross Charlotte Greenway system once it opens in summer/fall 2017 which will open up more trail routes in the Back Yard trails and Park Road park areas.
Flora & Fauna
Tons of old growth hardwood trees - oak, sycamore, poplar, beech.
