Runner Notes

This is not a great trail for running, as it's very steep and incredibly rooty and rocky.

Description

The trailhead entrance is in the Annie Cannon parking lot off Laurel Lane. The trail is about 1.6 miles long and drops 600 feet as it follows New Years Creek. The trail sticks to the creek the entire time so navigation is simple. The trail is a bit rough in places where erosion has eaten away at it, but your hard efforts will be rewarded by spectacular views of the two waterfalls cascading down the smoothed-rock cliffs.

For an even better experience, bring a lunch to enjoy at the foot of the falls.

Flora & Fauna

Rhododendrons bloom in the spring and summer.
