From Hihn Hammond Road, run north and cross the Skyline to the Sea Trail and the Sunset Trail. This section of Middle Ridge Road is popular for making a short loop run on the Skyline to the Sea and Sunset trails.

From here, the trail continues into the much less traveled northern reaches of Big Basin Redwoods State Park.

After crossing the Dool Trail, the forest gives way to chaparral and pines with some good views. The trail descends back into the redwoods and passes a junction with the Meteor Trail on the right. From there, the trail climbs again to a junction with the Hollow Tree Trail Connector and then ends a short while later at Johansen Road.
