The Trestle Recreation Area is closed from sundown to 9am.
Runner Notes
This trail can be linked for a longer run to the entire Rails-to-Trails system in Cloudcroft.
The busy season (May-Sept) brings many people to this area that are not as familiar with trail runners or trail etiquette. Be patient, the trails are worth it.
Description
This trail can be accessed by a couple of different points or junctions within the area. To do the trail in its totality, start at the TH of T5001A just east of the recreation area off of Hwy 84.
Following T5001A, you'll come to a junction in which you'll continue right on restored railroad bed. This section skirts Toboggan Canyon and provides great views.
Eventually turning north, you'll enter the pines and switchback down toward one more doubletrack section before arriving at the restored trestle that spans the canyon.
Flora & Fauna
Deer and other forest critters. Elk and black bear are possible but usually stay further out from town.
