Runner Notes

Wash trails are subject to flash flooding. Gaiters are a good idea to keep the sand out of your shoes. The sand makes for a good workout.

Description

This is a winding wash trail (lots of sand, some of it ankle-deep) that connects the northern edge of the Blevins Trail with the Channel Trail and Levee Trail on the south end of the park. It bisects the southern edge of the Blevins Trail. The wash trails here tend to be less crowded than even the more remote trails. They are popular with horseback riders, but not really mountain bikers since the sand is really difficult and unpleasant to navigate on a bike. More wildlife is usually visible on these kinds of trails due to the extremely low traffic.

This is a shot showing my favorite spot on the Blevins Trail - it's colorful in spring and has a good view of Pass Mountain.
