Description
Begin by heading down the trail from the parking area; after a short distance, turn right on the Echo Canyon Trail instead of the
Ed Riggs Trail. Soon afterward, begin to enjoy views of nearby spires and rock formations. At this point, you are at about the height of the tops of the formations. There are also more distant views of the spires in the canyon below.
After a bit, the trail descends via switchbacks into the spires in an area aptly named "Wall Street". Sheer walls rise on either side of the trail; from above, no one would guess a trail traverses the tangle of rocks and boulders.
The formations continue beyond Wall Street, looking like all kinds of every-day objects to the creative mind. This is Echo Park... check out those echos!
The trail ends by hugging the edge of Rhyolite Canyon to descend to a junction with the
Hailstone Trail (turning left will create a loop back to the Echo Canyon Parking Area via the
Ed Riggs Trail) and the
Upper Rhyolite Canyon Trail (turning right will take you down to the visitor center via the Lower Rhyolite Canyon Trail, or to the
Heart of Rocks Loop via the
Sarah Deming Trail).
