This is a natural-surface path through trees and grassland. Many sections are poorly drained and remain muddy for extended periods after rain. Users should always be prepared for mosquitoes.

The northern end is accessed from the Sullins Way loop in Bear Creek Pioneer Park, just south of Pavilion 8. There are picnic tables and parking. The path follows an old roadbed, around a fence, and then heads into the Boy Scout Field. There is no defined path across the field to the fence around the Hillendahl-Eggling Cemetery. The path passes west of the cemetery and then becomes less and less distinct. About 100 yards north of Patterson Road, the trace runs due west for about 300 yards before turning south to cross Patterson Road.

There is a low single-chain fence that you must step over on the north side of Patterson. Patterson is used by motor vehicles as a high-speed road. Sight lines are good at this crossing and traffic is generally light.On the south side of Patterson the trace moves into tall trees. The southern end of the trace is at Lamb Trail. There is an old concrete cattleguard at this point.

According to US Army Corps of Engineers’ records, Cyrus C. Plummer owned the land north of Lamb Road road near the creek at the time the land was appropriated for the reservoir.
