Runner Notes
This trail is most popular with mountain bikers, with an occasional hiker or trail runner popping in.
Description
This is a fairly rugged trail with some good climbs and nice views of Red Mountain and the Salt River. Watch out for the loose gravel and mountain bikers. I lived less than 2 miles from here for nearly 5 years before I knew this system was even here. Even today, it seems to be a secret; it is much less crowded than most of the trails in the area, but the system is challenging, beautiful, and definitely worth your time.
There is a little parking along Power Rd / Bush Hwy along the west side of the road, but the trailhead is not very well marked. Look at the map here and figure you may have to make a U-turn the first time you go since it sneaks up on you. If the parking area is full, consider heading south on Power to 202 and use the Park and Ride, then take the
Fence Line Trail to connect to this one.
When taken west to east, it is a constant uphill grade.
This trail connects to several others in the system such as the
Ridge Trail,
Hawes Loop Trail, and the
Saddle Trail.
