The trail begins in the Wilderness Campground, but can be picked up from the picnic area. The portion starting from the campground is relatively flat, but picks up elevation after 0.7 miles. A connector trail can be used so that you can park in the picnic area and transverse 0.2 miles to the trail. From there, it's 0.8 miles to the Ridge Trail. The Skylight Cave is on this trail, but closed due to diseased bats. Beautiful rock houses line the trail as you ascend and the path becomes narrow.
