Description

Fire Warden's Trail is a direct trail to both West and Avery Peaks. It begins on a doubletrack road that also leads to the Stratton Brook Pond outlet, but turns into a footpath as the trail continues northeast. Follow the old road from the parking area, and you won't miss it.

Runners will enjoy a fairly mellow warm-up for about the first two miles. Keep straight at the Horns Pond Trail junction. After this point, the trail begins to steepen. Enjoy the views as the trail ascends through the Bigelow foothills until a final sharp and steep climb into Bigelow Col.
