Description
This trail starts from the northern end of the parking area just off Park Road. You'll need to cross the road to start the trail - the crossing is clearly marked with zebra stripes but be mindful of cars.
You can take the loop in either direction. If you are headed counter clockwise, you'll encounter the southern end of the lake in very short order. At the southeastern corner of the lake, the trail will meet the
Observatory Trail which you can take to the park's observatory in only a few yards. Take the interpretive trail north along the eastern edge of the lake.
You'll encounter the first and biggest dock out onto the lake in about a fifth of a mile. In another tenth of a mile, you'll encounter the second dock/observation point. The trail rounds the top of the lake and heads back south to the crosswalk over Park Road.
Flora & Fauna
Alligators are very common in the park as well as a myriad of birds.
