Overview
A wonderful rolling loop trail through open terrain around Bear Creek Lake.
Need to Know
There is very little cover for most of the trail, so one might get cooked in the summer without proper sun protection. Watch out for mountain bikers as well. $10.00 per car pass required or you can park in Morrison and run into the park adding a little extra distance. You can park for free just off of HWY 285 and Simms St. Park on either side of the first roundabout (Nelson St. which is unfinished and stops about 100 ft. either side of the roundabout) then take the vehicle/pedestrian bridge back over 285 and into the park.... only foot traffic, bikes, and horses can enter from this side of the park, no vehicles. The Mt. Carbon Loop starts right at the top of the hill.
Runner Notes
Water can be refilled as you pass Fox Hollow Golf course on summer days by one of the fairway bathhouses on your way back to the car.
Description
Just follow the Mount Carbon trail signs, as this route will take you around the full trail. This is a great loop trail that offers more easy, rolling terrain than other trails in the area.
This can be a great run if you need to rest your legs but still want to get outside to enjoy the trail. This run only has two small category four climbs.
The route begins near the entrance of Bear Creek Park. Take the first right after passing the Toll
Boot and parking will be on your right. To start your run, cross back over the road heading east and you'll quickly see signs for the Mount Carbon Trail.
