Description
This trail connects the
Wetlands Trail with the
Fisherman's Trail. You can start your journey on either end. This is a doubletrack trail that varies between grass and dirt surfaces. From the south you travel through an evergreen thicket on a nicely maintained grass doubletrack spotted with redbuds. You then cross the very western tip of the wetlands where your trail can be a bit soft, but your feet should remain dry for the duration of this trek.
The trail turns to a dirt road and then to a singletrack as you pass by a short connecting trail for the
Old Wetlands Road and nears the
Fisherman's Trail. The southern portion of this trail can be a bit exposed, although it doesn't take long to reach the shade of the forest, so be sure and wear a hat. Overall, this is a great trail that provides an option to shorten or lengthen your journey through Clear Creek Natural Area.
Flora & Fauna
There are plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities as coyotes, wild hogs, raccoons and other forest and wetland creatures call this area home. For a birding checklist visit the City of Denton's website at:
