Overview

A flat and non-technical tour through the Trout Creek Wilderness section of the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve.

Need to Know

Check the hours of operation for the park before going because they may be more limited than you expect. There is a $2.00 parking fee which can be paid by cash or credit card.

Description

The route begins on the top of the berm and heads north over the spillway but within the first half mile turns onto the trails through the forest. The singletrack trail is quite flat with very minimal rocks and roots but keeps you alert nevertheless because of constant twists and turns.

The trail passes a lake with nice views at about mile 2.5. The return route runs along the berm for about a mile and then veers down the side back onto the singletrack where it briefly pops out of the forest.

At about mile six, the route passes the starting point and then continues south along the berm before turning back and winding through the forest and lakes just south of the parking lot.
