The Outer Loop is not, in fact, a full loop on its own. Rather the Outer Loop is more of an extension to the Kirby Nature Trail Inner Loop (which is only called the Inner Loop on the trail signs). You'll have to take the Kirby Nature Trail to get to the Outer Loop. The trail quality is the same as nearby trails - four feet wide and made of packed sand or gravel fill with boardwalks over low areas. However, this trail gets less traffic than the main Kirby Nature Trail or the Turkey Creek Trail. There is no specific feature of the trail that makes it great other than the solitude of nature you can find on it, and the face that it is so close to the trailhead.
