Description

This shaded doubletrack starts off of the Boundary Trail a short distance above the North Camp. At the start, the tread is gravely and is free of obstacles beyond the occasional small embedded rock. As it continues wrapping around, the wide corridor is lined with trees, moss, and salal.

The first "summit" quickly descends past a lovely mossy alcove in the trees. The next stretch follows a nearly flat undulating course as the track meanders through a small trees. Around mile one, the climbing returns. This time, the descent on the other side continues all the way to the end, getting steeper the farther you go.

The Upper Elk Loop could be traveled in the opposite direction, but the more gradual increase in elevation as mapped, will be more enjoyable.
