Description

The Granite Mountain Trail is just over five and a half miles long from end to end. Heading from east to west, it climbs steadily to Granite Mountain (8479') and the Granite Mountain Lookout (8478'). The west trailhead is located on Forest Road 294, and the first two miles of trail pose a challenging climb to the peak. Once you have enjoyed the views that this vantage point affords, continue on the trail which now steadily (and sometimes steeply) descends to the east trailhead on Forest Road 257 just above Goose Lake.
