There is a small parking area located immediately off the highway. Be careful of the private property that you pass near when first starting out.

Halfway along the lake, you'll find an oversized picnic table that would be a good spot for a snack or on-trail meal (always pack your garbage out!).

At the very end of the lake, you'll see a couple boards that are used for periodic boat trips from the town of Vatnsoyrar. You can also venture around this area to explore some. Note that in order to get to the end point of this trail, you'll have to scramble over a large rock field, and this may be difficult for some. The views are just as nice if you head straight to the ocean near the waterfall listed on the map.
