Description

Practically speaking, most visitors won't realize they're on a different trail or road at this point. Looking at the trailhead map, however, the initial doubletrack from the parking area is Longmont Dam Road, which heads north and west up the hill, while this access road continues south and west more gradually to the base of dam and Switchback Trail.

If you get a chance, look down on the dam release into the creek. The mist is cool and refreshing on hot days.

Heading up the steeper Switchback Trail on the side of the dam to the reservoir, keep your eyes peeled for lizards! (Photo taken when dogs were permitted, before 5/15/23).
