Overview

Mt. Walker is the only peak facing the Puget Sound that has both a road and trail to its summit. The trail is easily accessed year-round, though the summit road is subject to seasonal closure. Near the summit, there are two overlooks facing opposite directions: one offers views of the Puget Sound, Seattle, and Mt. Rainier, and the other has views of the Olympics.

Description

Starting from the gate, follow the road as it makes its way around the northern portion of the mountain on moderate grades hidden within dense forest. After making your way to the top, the road eventually ends at a summit complete with two viewpoints. Soak up the views and enjoy pleasant benches and restrooms before making your way down the steep Mt. Walker Trail #894's relentless switchbacks to reach the run's end.

Started the trail from the parking lot by the trailhead, so that knocked off about 1 mile from the loop. Great trail for getting some hill training! 7mi — 1h 15m
