This trail is within the Escalante Petrified Forest State Park.

Description

The trail ascends very quickly offering nice views to the west across Wide Hollow Reservoir and to the east towards Escalante. After 0.3 miles the trail splits into a loop, keep right to follow the recommended counterclockwise direction. You'll encounter several magnificent pieces of petrified wood on the way. You can add an extra 0.6 miles and 300 feet of climbing and descending by looping the Trail of Sleeping Rainbows. Hiking the loop counterclockwise is recommended.
