Overview

Villiage Park is 194 protected acres owned by the town of Swansea, Ma. It is used by hikers, mountain bikers and trail runners. There is always ample parking behind the town hall and library. There are many intersecting trails that are marked and mapped and many more that are not.

Description

This loop skirts around the outer boundaries of these trails. It is comprised of mostly tight, winding, well-defined trails. There are many muddy sections and water crossings. Plan on getting wet and dirty. The trails then winds around and over several small stone outcrops and through some majestic pine trees whose pine needles cushion your steps.

You'll then pass through a field of wildflowers and ancient stone walls as you approach Lewin Brook. You'll follow along the side Lewin Brook where the trail has many small hills covered in roots and rocks. Finally, you'll pass by a soccer field and another water crossing to return back to where you started.

While unnecessary, this water crossing certainly spiced up the run!
