Winter seasonal closure for this BLM land is Dec. 1st through April 15th.
Description
Crimson Ride is accessed from the outer edge of the
Half Time loop. Crimson Ride will primarily be used as the uphill trail to access trails higher up in the
Colorow Trail Network.
From the intersection with
Half Time and Crimson Ride, begin climbing to the northwest. The climbing is moderate but you'll encounter the occasional switchback and steep section. There are no forks or intersections on Crimson Ride until you top out at an old abandoned doubletrack.
In front of you'll be a rock formation, that in part helped determine the name for this trail. At this point, you can take a left (west) to run
Sweet Mother, a right (east) to run the
Jasper Trail or turn around and descend what you just climbed. The views from the top of Crimson Ride are worth the effort.
Note that the obvious doubletrack road that immediately descends from this point into the East Elk Creek Valley dead-ends at private property.
Stay off of this road as it is not open to public use.
