Runner Notes
The recommend running route heads up the switchbacks from Oredson-Todd side (east side) and down the
White Rabbit Trail to get there (if you're doing an out and back). In the winter, the switchback side gets a fair amount of sun so it can be the go-to place if snow is an issue on other trails.
Description
People tend to love or hate this trail because of its steep nature and many switchbacks. Starting from the
White Rabbit Trail on the west side, take a right onto
Queen of Hearts to reach the Uhtoff Trail.
Proceeding east, the trail begins a rolling gently and sometimes steeply down, eventually reaching the top of the
White Rabbit Trail, where a bench offers a little respite before the relatively steep switchback descent into Oredson-Todd Woods. Several offshoots of the Uthoff Trail connect to the
White Rabbit Trail affording many loop opportunities. Views of Grizzly Peak, Emigrant Lake, and the Rogue Valley may be the reward for the many switchbacks. Beware of poison oak on the edges of the trail, particularly on this switchback section.
Flora & Fauna
Oak, madrones.
