Watch your footing as this is a known habitat for venomous snakes. We spotted a baby coral snake slithering through the fallen leaves on the forest floor right beside the trail.
Description
The starting trailhead can be hard to spot. However, it's right beside the gates at the eastern entrance from Memorial Dr into Picnic Ln.
The trail winds through the woods, mostly following the northern edge of a deep creek bed. There are frequent changes in elevation, but none are particularly steep.
The twists and turns on the trail can be disorienting, so it is highly advisable to 1) carry a copy of the park's trail map and a compass or 2) bring your smartphone with the
Trail Run Project mobile app to keep you on course.
The trail surface is mostly dirt and can be muddy in some sections, so it's highly advised to wear sturdy running shoes.
Bicycle traffic can be heavy during the weekends, so stay alert and be polite.
