Description
This is one of two trails within Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge. The 1.5-mile loop begins and ends at the visitor center parking lot and provides excellent views of the rocky Rhode Island coast, with multiple options for shoreline access, and plentiful bird watching. The trail is a wide dirt path with little-to-no change in elevation.
Begin at the visitor center, which includes exhibits of the birds and other wildlife that can be found in the area. The trail follows the western side of Sachuest Point overlooking Sachuest Bay and Second Beach. At 0.6 miles, you'll reach Sachuest Point. The trail now continues around the eastern side of the point, with views of the Atlantic Ocean and Sakonnet Point. At 1.0 miles, a trail to the left diverges to the Price Neck Overlook. This trail rejoins the Ocean View Loop Trail at 1.2 miles. At 1.3 miles, join the Flint Point Trail or turn left to continue on the Ocean View Loop Trail and return to the visitor center.
Flora & Fauna
You're sure to see a large variety of coastal birds along the loop.
