Runner Notes
Large portions of this trail are wide enough for two people to be side by side. The terrain is soft and covered with pine straw; no rocks or other hazards. Several bridges cross over steams, and large depressions. Only a few sections with elevation changes have roots or stairs to watch out for.
Description
This trail is clearly marked with a white diamond blaze, and there are no major turns or confusing intersections.
From the parking area at the park office, head back out through the entrance gate, and you'll see the trailhead to the left across the road. The first half mile is very flat and up to the halfway point there are only a few short sections with climbs over roots to navigate. The trail is well maintained; all downed trees are cut and moved off the trail, and there are 8-10 short bridges over the creek that runs through it.
About halfway along the trail, there is a bench overlooking the creek that would be a great spot for a picnic. From here, the second half of the trail has more frequent sections of climbing but is still easily managed. Following the trail to the end returns you to the parking area.
