Runner Notes
Great training run if looking to amp up your hill climbing abilities.
Description
This trail has about 4000 ft elevation change over 6 miles (one way) as you climb your way out of the gorge. If you start at Wyeth Trailhead/Campground it is mostly dense forest, with lots of shade. The trail starts off fairly mellow but within the first mile it starts to get steep, with many switchbacks to follow. As you make your way up the canyon, keep an eye out for views of the gorge; they are few and far between but can be found. Once you get through the steepest switchbacks, there is a clearing and rock garden, and from there it begins to level out. At the junction, go left and before you know it you'll be at North Lake. Find a camping spot or picnic spot, take a dip or try and catch a few fish, you've earned it.
For those looking to go avoid the uphill, park near North Lake and descend on this trail, though you'll need to have someone shuttle you back to the top.
