The Overlook Trail begins as a divergence from the Backbone Trail along the ridge line above the La Jolla Valley. The Overlook Trail offers great views of Big Sycamore Canyon and the surrounding mountains, including Boney Peak, as it starts to wind its way down into the canyon. Eventually you'll come across a juncture with the Scenic Trail, stay to the left to continue along the Overlook Trail. You'll descend some switchbacks down to the creek before the trail comes to its end as it intersects with the Sycamore Canyon Trail.
