Runner Notes
Although a few sections are rocky, the majority of Northway Trail is fine, sandy singletrack. The last mile of downhill is almost too much of a good thing: soft pine needles cushion a trail weaving down through thick forest. It is easy to go fast if you want to! Rocks and roots are infrequent in this section.
Description
Find the trailhead by tracing the forest road north from the dirt picnic area north of the gondola station. When this forest road splits, take the left fork which is marked by a double-black-diamond sign. The fork you DON'T want is for the Snorting Elk (ski) Trail. The trail ends in a broad dirt parking area. You can make your way back to Crystal Mountain Parkway via forest road (first left)... or keep going on a forest road to the
Power Line Trail which leads back to the Resort parking lots.
