Description

Catharine Valley Trail is a completed section of Rails to Trail. It is a gravel trail that welcomes bikers, runners, hikers, and dogs on leashes.

The trail is easily do-able by nearly any fitness level. It has a very slight downhill grade if you are headed north on the trail (as shown) and very slight uphill grade if headed south. There are a few different places to park. Dandy Market on RT14 in Pine Valley, NY has parking off to the left of the store, and the trail can be picked up directly behind the store.

Approximately four miles north of Dandy is the Millport Post Office, which also has parking, and the trail is picked up directly at the end of the parking lot.

The trail extends from Pine Valley, NY to Watkins Glen, NY. There is a small segment that is road through Montour Falls (less than one mile) before picking up next to Welliver McGuire and continuing along the canal ending behind Watkins Glen High School. A few blocks on the streets will drop you right in downtown Watkins Glen with many options for food and drink.
