Description
Potrero Road, a fire road, is used as a part of the
Charmlee Wilderness Park Loop. It begins off the west side of Encinal Canyon Rd., just north of the turn off for the Charmlee Wilderness Park Nature Center. From the trailhead, follow the trail as it briefly climbs to a hairpin turn. Continue around the bend to follow Potrero Road. The trail then makes its way over the hillside as it heads to the south. Soon you'll pass a juncture with the
Russell Trail as it diverges to the left. Continue straight along Potrero Road a short while longer to reach another major bend in the trail. Stay to the left here to follow the path as the bends to the east.
You'll quickly come across a junction with Charmichael Road on your left before reaching another junction with the
Russell Trail, also on the left. This time the
Russell Trail merges with Potrero Road as it bends to the south. From here, Potrero Road heads straight, toward the coast, for 4/10ths of a mile through the center of Charmlee Wilderness Park's meadows before reaching a three-way trail junction. At this point, Potrero Road comes to an end. The
Reservoir Trail will be to your left, and you can follow this trail if you want to continue the
Charmlee Wilderness Park Loop.
