Need to Know
There are no services along the trail, so make sure to carry some water and food if you need it for the hike. Also, be prepared to hike back up the hill, which is very steep in places. Make sure to evaluate your ability before attempting this hike.
Description
To access the Lambert
Creek Trail, start in the parking lot and work your way down to Horseshoe lake. Right before the wooden bridge that crosses the outlet for the lake, the Lambert
Creek Trail works its way into the woods. The trail narrows to a singletrack dirt trail and remains level for about 0.2 miles.
Then the trail begins to descend steeply down the hillside. The woods provide shade throughout the day, meaning that you can run this trail in the middle of the day without worrying about the sun. The trail cuts back at half a mile and then starts to level out as it approaches Lambert Creek which is on the left side of the trail.
After a rainstorm, you can enjoy the creek as it runs along the trail. The trail ends at a sign that says you have reached the end of the trail. From here, you have to climb back up the hill to the junction with the
Horseshoe Loop/Tree Farm Trail. From here, you can go back to your car or explore more of the park along either the
Horseshoe Loop or Tree Farm Trail.
