Description
The Broad Mountain Trail is a remote singletrack in the Jefferson National Forest. Hikers can park on the gravel shoulder on the side of Route 606. If you head northeast from the gravel lot, there are blazes marking the trail and you have the option to make it a loop if you connect to the
Sulphur Ridge Trail.
If you cross the road from the gravel parking area to head southwest, there are no blazes marking the trail. Hikers will be able to see the trail, but it's not always easy with lots of leaves and rocks along the path. The terrain is challenging with steep inclines and variable footing - be sure to wear good shoes!
While there are no distinct outlooks along the trail, if you hike during leaf off you can peer through the tree line to the valley and surrounding mountains. It's unlikely that you'll see any other hikers, making this a great trail for a quiet nature hike.
