Dogs must be leashed on trails from July to Labor Day

Description

At 11.7 miles one-way, this can be runed as an out-and-back, but maybe not in one day.
Keep in mind the pass is usually snow bound until July.

East Fork of Skeleton Creek is a trail that can be climbed to create a larger loop, or used as an out-and-back. From the bottom of the trail, the first part is fairly mellow climbing with some short steep sections. The later in the season you go, the less likely the trail is to have fallen trees.

The first 6 miles are a pretty mellow ascent, with just a few short steeper sections. After mile 6, the trail gets much steeper. This is to be expected in the Smoky Mountains since the final parts of the passes are generally steep and rocky. Around the point of difficulty change you'll come to the Narrow Canyon Trail; a good route to take, that is more gradual to the top. The last 5 miles are much more primitive than the first 6.

This is an amazing run in the Idaho backcountry and you'll likely have the trail all to yourself, so be prepared!
