It is currently not possible to runthe full track due to a landslide. However - at the current end - there is access to the road so for those who want to be picked up it is no problem.
Runner Notes
Due to a landslide at the end of the original track, you have to turn back at the
Upper Gorge Bridge Track or follow the path down to the road. There is a pickup possibility on the other side of the road - use the underpass to get there.
Description
Manawatu Gorge Trail is a beautiful track through native bush with several great outlooks. The track starts from the car park at the Gorge coming from Ashurst.
Follow the path alongside the road - until an underpath under the road where the actual track starts in the wood. The short
Tawa Track 4k loop (which is ideal for running with kids ) starts there as well. I took the
Upper Gorge Bridge Track, and on the way back, took the other half of the Tawa loop.
Overall, this is a nice forested singletrack that is very convenient to run. Ferns and Nikau palms are along the track as well as information regarding native birds.
