Description
Sheep Creek Trail throws it all at you from amazing singletrack to exposed sidehill trail, expect more than the length indicates.
Sheep Creek Trail leaves the CDT - Bradley Gulch just south of the cabin and descends to the canyon bottom for a stream crossing. Once across, the trail parallels Sheep Creek for over 1/4 mile and can be overgrown with vegetation.
It then steeply climbs and contours away from the creek, gaining over 800' in the next 1.5 mile. Glimpses of the Beaverhead Mountains can be had when the trail sidehills across a a steep exposed face with Sheep Creek far below.
After crossing through a saddle, the trail quickly drops 500' vertical through old burned trees and a few switchbacks. Then a short climb across an open face to a 1000' descent.
Once back to the creek bottom, the trail continues dropping but at a more mellow pace through tight willows and shrubs to the Sheep Creek Road.
