Description
They call this trail Mother....for good reason.
Because it reminds you of a warm bowl of soup, like Mother made? No.
Because even your Mother could breeze through this trail? No.
This trail was named with only a single noun, but a variety of added adjectives will come to mind. Mother is rough and rocky, with a few steep climbs.
The trail is accessed from IMBA, POW or
West Leg from the south or Caldera from the north.
If running from the beginning from
West Leg, after you pass the POW trail connect you'll encounter an optional shortcut to the left down a spooky steep gully; Probably better to just stay right for the more safe option. While there is quite a lot of smooth, pleasant trail to enjoy, you'll encounter more than one section of rough trail.
All in all, the Mother Trail is a great trail, but not one most will run every day.
