The pass is snow bound until July and fallen trees are usually cut out by mid-July.

Description

The Alturas Lake Creek Trail starts on an old road that was decommissioned around 2003. The trail has really filled in on the old road section and now has a nice bridge over Alturas Creek. The grade of the trail is mellow in the beginning, but there are a number of rocky areas.

Eventually, Alturas Creek brings you through a number of meadows and avalanche paths until finally, you get into some dense tree cover. You'll cross Alturas Creek once more and then the trail gets much steeper. From here, the trail climbs and is very rocky. The trail is also a great descent and can be used to access a number of other trails in the area to create some large loops.
