Description
A shady old ranch road leading to two ponds, adjoining trails both to Dome Rock Wildlife area and Mueller State Park. This trail starts at the Mueller State Park Visitor Center and heads west out of the southern end of the parking lot. The eastern end of this trail is open to both foot traffic and bikes; however, at about 0.6 miles the trail intersects Preacher's Hollow Trail #4 and horses are allowed west of this point. Continue winding through the open forest, past the junction with Brook Pond Trail, to reach Rock Pond.
This is a pretty easy trail, gradually descending from the visitor center, though if you are not acclimated to the elevation it could leave you winded on the way back out. This trail is primarily known for its wildlife viewing, and fishing is allowed with a valid license in both Rock Pond and Brook Pond.
