Description

From the Bird Island Trail parking lot take the obvious path south along China Cove. After 0.2 miles South Plateau Trail joins on the left and Gibson's Beach with its white sand it just straight ahead. Turn right and proceed to the small headland which will give you an excellent view of Bird Island. This is a large sea bird nesting area in spring and summer. Don't forget to bring your binoculars.

Flora & Fauna

Bird Island is a popular nesting place for Brandt's cormorants. You can also see Western gull chicks and possibly black-crowned night herons.
