Road may be restricted after heavy rains due to a river fording.
Overview
Dogwood Trail is a hard-packed trail in a very shady area of Sand Run Park. There's an open field at one point of the trail that is a great break for running around with the kids or dog. The trail guide and all documentation online says the trail is 1.8 miles, but it has recently been rerouted and is now 2.3 miles.
Description
Trail begins in the Wadsworth parking area in Sand Run Park. There is a river ford going through the park, which may be closed during heavy rains.
The trail begins with a rather steep incline that is not for everybody. Once on top of the incline, the trail mostly evens out and runs through the woods. At one point, the trail opens up into a field that is great for a break. The trail stays somewhat even for awhile, then begins to drop down to road level. There are a number of up and down inclines for the rest of the trail.
The trail does follow along with the road for a little while without actually going onto the road. It also mirrors the Buckeye Trail for a short distance.
