Description

The area surrounding this trail was burned in 2006 during the Red Mountain Fire, so you may encounter many down trees if runed early in the season. The trail is usually cleared every year, so your way should be fully opened by mid July or August.

From the trailhead follow Wyoming-Fir Creek Trail which will begin ascending a ridge; there are steep sections along the way. The trail reaches a highpoint at about 3.3 miles and soon after it begins descending it will be important to stay right at a junction around 4 miles, otherwise you'll end up descending the Gates Creek Trail. The descending trail twists and turns before crossing the creek and reaching the trailhead.

Using the road FS579 you can make this trail into a loop. This means you'll climb some of the uphill on FS579 and some along Wyoming Creek.
