Description
Lewis Morris gets a lot of traffic in general but the
Yellow Trail is probably the most traveled. The trail follows the western perimeter of park then cuts back through the center. The terrain ranges from unimproved roads to double and singletrack.
From the parking area, the trail heads north of the road for a short loop. Cross the road and head southeast, continuing on the Yellow trail which overlaps with the Patriot's Path for a short while. The section of trail past the ball fields and pavilion crosses a small steam, immediately followed by a climb up a heavily eroded doubletrack. Just after parting ways with the Patriot's Path, the
Yellow Trail becomes a very wide unimproved road with sections still used for camping access.
The road will take you through some more heavily weathered and eroded sections but eventually intersects with the
Orange / Black Trail at the top. From here, the pace of the trail changes drastically, switching to winding singletrack. There are a number of climbs, switchbacks, bridges but nothing challenging.
