Dogs Unknown
Hikers must yield to bikers on these trails.
The trail reverses based on day of the week. Hikers always travel opposite to bikers.
Watch the website for closures - many city and SORBA Woodstock events cause the trails to be closed, especially on Saturday mornings.
Description
There are three main loops that make up this trail as follows:
Avalanche Trail Loop 1: No matter the daily direction, first thing youre going to do on Avalanche is climb. The ups and downs are steep, but also fairly short. The singletrack here is a bit narrower and at times quite twisty in and amongst the pines. There are some rough areas that are rocky and rooty. Several tight switchbacks keep you busy on this loop.
Avalanche Trail Loop 2: Loop 2 continues the up and down, left and right theme that defines Avalanche as is common with this much trail packed in a small area.
Avalanche Trail Loop 3: Across the bridges and out onto Loop 3 things are a little more mellow and not as winding. The singletrack out here is more linear and stays smoother for the most part.
