Description
This trail starts off the
Mennen Trail at the south end of Pyramid Mountain County Park. I did this as part of a loop run. The trail is rocky with rolling hills through an old-growth forest. About one mile in from the southern end of the trail, you'll reach a prominent rock formation known as Tripod Rock. It is a large glacial erratic balanced on three, much smaller rocks. After about 1.5 miles, you'll leave Pyramid Mountain Park continuing north on a white-blazed trail. The trail will exit into a residential area by way of an easement. Run the road following the white blazes until you can re-enter the forest.
Once back in the forest, run for another 0.5 miles until you reach Kakeout Reservoir. The last mile of this trail is very enjoyable along an overgrown forest road. Return the way you came or turn left on the
Blue-White Connector Trail to reach the
Montville-Butler Trail for the loop.
Flora & Fauna
Visit this area in the autumn to see it erupt in fiery fall color.
